Dear Misterlings,How are we feeling about that one? Just know—the closer we get, the worse (and somehow better) the nicknames will become. This past week, I had the joy of sitting down with curator Yi Cynthia Chen to talk about her exhibition Willful Dialects, which opened April 26 at Distillery Gallery and No Call, No Show. I had the chance to stop by, and was so honored to see that our interview was printed and included in the show! Our conversation moved through language, community, resistance, and the many-layered ways artists refuse singular definitions of self. The exhibition itself was every bit as beautiful, thoughtful, and alive as the curatorial process that brought it into being. Yi is truly a force. I’m feeling deeply grateful for all the love and support that’s been flowing into Mister lately. Since coming back to social media, the reception has been overwhelming in the best way. I’ve been over the moon with the energy we’ve received from our community since the launch party, the opening of our archive, and the release of all the new digital content. In short: y'all have been eating it up—and so have we. If you want to see even more rich content from incredible artists, help us keep building! Play a little matchmaker.
