Seven scores about life

Curated by Maya Rubio

Featuring scores by Kenz Cannon, Kelly Chen, v. nico d'entremont, Niara Hightower, Phoebe Hiltermann, Asja Mijovic, & Yolanda He Yang

Scores map the dance. Your attention, how you move.

Some scores give simple actions. They set a clear performance.

Others are abstract. Like a poem, these scores happen inside your psyche, animating your thoughts and imagination. Maybe you’re looking at a shape. Notice what you’re noticing.

If inspired, abstract scores can become embodied performances. The artist absorbs, responds with gestures and sounds. How does the abstract live in a body?

Or, Abstract the clear instruction, dance like you journal, what happens now? Turn your body into the water bottle, the action verb.

Dance for the questions and answers.

Here is an open are.na board about scores. Please add any ripples - scores you find, scores you make, performances of scores, anything you want to add to our conversation.
